January 1st 
Fidel Castro leads Cuba to victory.

January 2nd 
Soviet Union successfully launches Luna I spacecraft from Baikonur Cosmodrome.

January 4th
After 34 hours of flight , Luna I impacts the Moon , which is tracked and observed by both Moon base Eisinga and New Amsterdam moon base personal and its sensors (1).

January 7th 
The United States recognizes the new Cuban government of Fidel Castro.

January 19th
KNRS Amsterdam visit Alpha Centauri VII ,this is the seventh visit to Alpha Centauri by the flagship of royal Netherlands space force sins its first visit to Alpha Centauri in 1958.

January 22nd 
United States air force concludes ,that less than 1 percent of UFOs are unknown objects (2).

Another Type A class shuttle designated KNRS A8 begins its test flight out of Netherlands space centre Guyana , whit this more then eight Type A class shuttle are in service whit the royal Netherlands space force , and two of them are deployed out of New Batavia outpost.

The first Soviet satellite , Luna II crashed near the Sea of Tranquility ,on the Moon , several hours latter , four royal Netherlands space force personal operating from Moon base Eisinga arrive at Luna II impact side to investigate it , and recover it for study at Moon base Eisinga.

The Soviet Union announced the success of Luna II on Moscow radio with the words ‘’yesterday on the 13th of September, the second Soviet cosmic rocket reached the surface of the moon’’.

Utopia Planitia space yard construction after vive years is completed , and immediately is renamed L3 space yard , after the new location it will be moved to , New Fijenoord-Rotterdamsche space yard which will keep it current name , will be move as soon as the last of the Wolf class scout vessel is completed , to its new location at Sun–Earth L3 point.

(1) Luna I only posed radio equipment, tracking transmitter, telemetry system and five different sets of scientific devices for studying interplanetary space , it was decided that it pose no treat to the two Netherlands Moon bases , and therefore was allowed to reach orbit of the Moon.

(2) the sightings that the United States air force concludes , are unknown objects , are , royal Netherlands space force probes , shuttles and the occasional spaceship orbiting earth.

(3) OTL the 1964 Summer Olympic Games were awarded to Tokyo , whit second place being Detroit , but here in this timeline the 1964 Summer Olympic Games where awarded to Detroit.

(4) the malfunction of Luna III happen , when the royal Netherlands space force jammed it , preventing Luna III from sending its pictures to the soviet Union ,and as a result crashed on the Moon surface.

(5) Tahoka is the Japanese name for Taipei , which is the Japanese colonial government capitol of Formosa.

January 8th
Cuban revolutionary forces capture Havana.

January 16th
The first mission out of the earth solar system by royal Netherlands space force command is given to KNRS Amsterdam, who will explore and establish a permanent outpost in Alpha Centauri and visits Vulcan.

January 17th
Captain Jonan Andre , commander of KNRS Amsterdam is briefed by rear admiral De Jong , who informs captain Andre , that the Vulcan’s have offered a liaison officer to be placed on KNRS Amsterdam , and that prime minister Drees has accepted that offer , despite the admiral urges not to do so , as it would give away secrets to them.

The first successful American satellite, Explorer I, is launched into orbit (1).

Sputnik II , the first successful launched satellite , who was launched on November 4th , 1957 , falls back to Earth.

Subcommander T'Mir (2) meets whit Vulcan ambassador Senek , at the Vulcan embassy located at Mars base Hellas , where she is told that she is assigned as the Vulcan liaison officer to KNRS Amsterdam.

Subcommander T'Mir , meets whit captain Andre onboard KNRS Amsterdam , as the spaceship prepares itself , before beginning its mission to Alpha Centauri and Vulcan.

Whit more then 1,065 crew members and a Vulcan liaison officer onboard , the 24 year old spaceship KNRS Amsterdam leaves orbit of Mars , before going to warp 6 which will take here to Alpha Centauri in less then two days.

Arriving at Alpha Centauri , KNRS Amsterdam drops out of warp near Alpha Centauri I , which it is called according to the star charts available to the royal Netherlands space force.

After three days , KNRS Amsterdam has spend its time exploring Alpha Centauri , launching several Class-5 probes , beaming a survey team to Alpha Centauri I , visiting Alpha Centauri III , IV and Alpha Centauri VII.

February 21st
A week in the exploration of Alpha Centauri , KNRS Amsterdam now orbiting Alpha Centauri III , establish a small outpost , called New Batavia , whit approval of captain Andre , whit a outpost establish , KNRS Amsterdam heads towards it last mission of visiting Vulcan.

The Iowa-class battleship, USS Iowa is decommissioned, leaving the United States navy without an active battleship for the first time since 1896 (4).

After several meetings between Albert Colder and administrator T’Pro , the Netherlands are allowed to establish a embassy in ShiKahr.

The United States launches the Vanguard I satellite successfully into orbit.

After spending 13 days in orbit of Vulcan , KNRS Amsterdam departs to Alpha Centauri III , where it will help expanding New Batavia outpost , before heading back to Mars.

The United States launches Explorer III successfully.

Soviet Union suspends nuclear weapons tests, and urges the United States , Great Britain and the Japanese empire to do the same.

April 2nd
Back in orbit of Alpha Centauri III , the crew of KNRS Amsterdam are surprised in seeing KNRS Wolf also in orbit , as its is bringing supplies to New Batavia outpost.

April 8th
KNRS Amsterdam heads back to Mars , together whit KNRS ER-3 , who arrived two days earlier at New Amsterdam outpost.

April 12th
Whit KNRS Amsterdam back at Mars , New Batavia outpost receives a platoon belonging to the Netherlands marine special operations battalion who arrived onboard a cramped KNRS Panter , and who are the first garrison unit for Alpha Centauri III , which now has 80 people working and living on the planet.

April 14th
The Soviet satellite Sputnik III disintegrates in space after several orbits.

May 15th
The Soviet Union launches Sputnik IV ,which is also the first satellite to carry a living dog called Mushka (5).

May 23rd
American satellite, Explorer I , ceases transmission.

The body of a unidentified soldier killed in action during world war II is buried at the tomb of the unknowns in Arlington national cemetery.

June 23rd
The Phobos weapon platform orbiting Mars is activated , becoming the first automated planetary defense system for the royal Netherlands space force , and is armed whit 100 Mark-3 spatial torpedo’s , two phaser banks , each containing two phaser emitters , and a force field to protect the facility , whit its main function to defend Mars , New Fijenoord-Rotterdamsche space yard and the almost completed Utopia Planitia space yard.

Third Van Speijk class frigate enters service whit the royal Netherlands navy , called HNLMS Evertsen , it is named after the previous decommissioned Admiralen class destroyer , HNLMS Evertsen , and is slated to replace HNLMS Kortenaer , third Admiralen class destroyer.

Augustus 17th
The first Thor-Able rocket is launched, carrying Pioneer 0, from Cape Canaveral air force Station , but the launch fails due to a first stage malfunction.

Augustus 23rd
Japanese imperial army begins bombardment of targets in the United Republic of China controlled part of the province of Sichuan , in responds the United Republic of China army begins counter firing against target in the republic of China-Nanking controlled part of Sichuan (6).

October 1st
NASA starts operations and replaces NACA.

October 2nd
The Japanese empire and the United Republic of China end their longest continuous border fighting to date in which more then 450,000 artillery shells where fired by both sides , more then 7,000 lives where lost , and which saw the first use of special modified United States air force supplied F-86 Sabres jet fighter for the United Republic of China air force carrying the AIM-9 Sidewinder air-to-air missile , who managed to engage and destroy several Japanese jet fighters.

American satellite, Pioneer I , launch is unsuccessful due to a failure of its Thor-Able rocket.

KNRS Amsterdam visit Vulcan for the second time , and brings whit it the newly appointed ambassador Colder to the temporarily Netherlands embassy on Vulcan.

November 8th
The third launch of a Thor-Able rocket, carrying Pioneer II, is unsuccessful due to a third stage failure.

December 2nd
Belux treaty signed by Belgium and Luxembourg.

December 6th
American satellite, Pioneer III reaches 107,269 km, before falling back to earth.

December 16th
New Batavia outpost , Alpha Centauri III , population reaches 200.

December 21st
Charles De Gaulle wins seven year term as first president of the 5th Republic of France.

(1) whit the Soviets having have bin delayed in successful launching Sputnik I , the royal Netherlands space force decided not to destroy ore to delay the launching of Explorer I by the Americans.

(2) Subcommander T'Mir was one of the four crew members of the Vulcan survey ship D'Vro , who made first contact whit a Netherlands spaceship , and du here having spend time whit humans , was made Subcommander , and assigned as the official Vulcan liaison officer onboard KNRS Amsterdam.

(3) the launch was a failure as it OTL , and was not sabotage by the royal Netherlands space force.

(4) Only three Iowa-class battleships where constructed between 1939 to 1944 and of them Iowa-class battleship, USS Iowa is the battle ship to be put out of commission and placed together whit here sister ships into the reserve fleet , Bremerton , Washington , whit this the Japanese imperial navy is the only user of battleships in the pacific , whit two Yamato class battleships still in service , who still remain the largest battleships in the world.

(5) Mushka was one of three selected dogs whit the other two dogs being Albina and Laika.

(6) the Japanese empire feels that the can attack targets in the divided province of Sichuan , as the consider themselves a nuclear power and therefore the United States will not attack ore declare war on them.
