US president Dwight Eisenhower announces that the United States has severed diplomatic and consular relations with Cuba.

February 3rd
The United Republic of China, in order to feed it 90 million people, using a 30 million dollar loan from the United States, buys grain from Canada.

January 11th
New Fijenoord-Rotterdamsche space yard and L3 space yard , at their new location at Sun–Earth L3 point begin building each a new type of space vessel , at L3 space yard , construction of a new type of destroyer called the Holland class destroyer begins , while at New Fijenoord-Rotterdamsche space yard construction of a freighter begins (1).

Michael Rockefeller, son of New York Governor Nelson Rockefeller and his traveling companion are found in the jungles of Netherlands New Guinea after their boat sunk, by a KH-2 Kolibrie II helicopter of the royal Netherlands East Indies air force, and brought to Hollandia, capital of Netherlands New Guinea.

(1) the Holland class destroyer will be 200 meters in length, have a crew of 150, a maximum speed of warp eight ,shields , two transporter rooms , a holo deck, front and aft tractor beams , 3 twin-mounted phaser banks , two torpedo banks carrying a total of 56 Mark-3 spatial torpedo’s , and two new B class shuttles onboard , the first, the freighter which is being built at New Fijenoord-Rotterdamsche space will be 100 meters long , a maximum of warp 3 , no weapons and shield and has a crew of 12.

(2) John F. Kennedy is the same person as in OTL, except that he served in Europe during World War II.

(3) the Andorian chancellor decided, that if the Netherlands dos not allow the Andorians to visit earth, then the Netherlands may not set foot ore establish an embassy on Andoria, but he did allow a vessel belonging to royal Netherlands space force to visit the capital world of the Andorian Empire, as he considers the Netherlands people a valuable ally against the Vulcans.

(4) in 1965,KNRS Amsterdam will reach it 31 year of service whit the royal Netherlands space force.

(5) the Vulcan have decided to move the Vulcan embassy located at Mars base Hellas , to a compound near Fort Doorman , as the feel restricted in their movement at Mars base Hellas, by the royal Netherlands space force , the reason that Fort Doorman was chosen , was that the Vulcans did not want to be near the Andorian embassy at New Batavia.

(6) prime minister Willem Drees is whit the fourth term the longest siting prime minster in the Netherlands sins 1848, and he has mentioned that the fourth term will be his last, as he will be in office for more than sixteen years.

(7) former British Malaya was given its independence from Great Britain in 1957 , becoming the Commonwealth of Malaya.

(8) the Netherlands bureau of penology falls under the supervision of the royal Netherlands space force , and has only one settlement at its disposal , which is the new Veenhuizen penal settlement which has a capacity of 800 prisoners.
